But the thing that marks out the power of the gospel and the sovereignty of Jesus Christ is that He commands us to love our enemies, to do something so different from either the world or the religious world that it can be explained only in divine and supernatural terms. And that is so because this statement of Jesus, which reveals the contrast between true Christianity and false Christianity, is a contrast revealed to us because, in its own way, it underlines for us and reveals to us the key to the gospel itself. – Sinclair Ferguson
